CUSTOMER SATISFACTION WITH SONIC SPEAKEASY | The administration for Cardiff University moved in late 2003 to an impressive 11-storey glass and aluminium clad building in Newport Road. It was obviously important that the Cash Office, where students settle their tuition fees etc., should combine absolute safety for people handling cash and security from theft with customer-friendly easy access and a non-threatening appearance. For this the University called on Sonic Windows Ltd. of Bexhill to provide a Security Window System tailor-made to the Offices needs. Sonic recommended installation of Speakeasy Communication Windows since these give an unobstructed view from student to staff yet offer the security of clear safety glass. The SPEAKEASY intercom offers excellent undistorted sound communication even in places with a high level of background noise [a likely situation in a student environment] and the induction rod transmits a signal audible by hearing-aid users. The cash-flow tray is recessed into the counter top allowing the easy passing of money and documents while maintaining staff security from threat. A total of four Speakeasy Windows were installed in the Newport Road building, three at standard height and one at a lower level to allow ample space for wheelchair access. The walls around the windows were tastefully finished in wood panelling, giving the Cash Office a light and airy feel and heightening the impression of friendly open access. David Smith, Cardiff Universitys Buildings Maintenance Officer, was delighted with Sonics installation work and with the efficiency of the Speakeasys two-way communication system. | |||
